Application
This tester is designed to evaluate the thermal protective and insulation performance of exposed outer surfaces made from flame-retardant fabrics when subjected to radiant and convective heat sources. Typical test specimens include flame-retardant protective clothing, firefighting suits, fire boots, gloves, and helmet outer shells.
The testing system supports the calculation of TPP (Thermal Protective Performance) values, TPE (Thermal Protective Evaluation) tests, and FFF (Fabric Flammability Factor) algorithms.
Principle
Under a specified heat flux, the time to second-degree burn is determined from the intersection point between the response curve (calorimetric sensor temperature rise curve) and the Stoll curve (human tissue tolerance curve).A higher product of heat flux and second-degree burn time indicates superior thermal protective performance of the tested fabric.
